Amnesty International Castilla–La Mancha will hold an event for reflection and dialogue on Gaza in Toledo on Saturday.
The Toledo group of Amnesty International Castilla-La Mancha, together with a diverse network of social and cultural groups in the city, is organizing an event for Gaza from a human rights perspective this Saturday, May 16, at 4:00 p.m. at the San Clemente Cultural Center in Toledo.
This space for awareness, reflection and collective action on the humanitarian crisis in Palestine was created with the aim of making visible the human rights violations in Gaza, strengthening the demand that Israel end the genocide it is carrying out against the Palestinian population of Gaza, calling for an immediate ceasefire, and for the protection of the civilian population, within the framework of international law.
Doors will open with access to an area where the various collaborating organizations will be present, as well as resources and channels for citizen action regarding the situation in Gaza, arranged at informational tables. At 5:00 p.m. the documentary “Forever Peace Now,” provided by its director Vahid Razavi and presented in collaboration with the Castilla-La Mancha International Social Film Festival (Feciso), will be screened.
After the screening, a hopeful message from the documentary’s director and from editor José Campos, recorded in advance, will be shown. Finally, there will be an open discussion on human rights and the importance of respecting international law, as violated in Gaza, Amnesty International said in a press release.
Participating in the event are the Provincial Council of Toledo, Feciso, Movimiento por la Paz de Toledo, SOS Refugee Network, Toledo por Palestina, Marcha por Palestina, Women in Black, Bolo Bolo, Tenants’ Union of Toledo, Colectivo Mazapán, LGTBITorrijos, Círculo de Arte de Toledo, Plataforma 8M Toledo, San Clemente Cultural Center, Renacer, Plataforma Vivienda Digna Toledo, as well as other social actors committed to global justice.
